Nicole Phinopoulou

Nicole Phinopoulou is a lawyer, with a 20 year proven track transactional record. Her focused expertise is on Banking and Financial Services including Corporate Regulatory Governance and Statutory Obligations. Nicole graduated in law from Leicester University (2000), continued with obtaining an LL.M (Master of Law) in Corporate & Commercial Law from University College London (UCL)(2000), and completed the Legal Practice Course (LPC) at City University (2003). In 2020 she was admitted to the Institute for Sustainability Leadership and in 2021 to the Judge Business School, both of University of Cambridge.

She is a member of the Cyprus Bar Association (2003). Possess a proven ability to manage and deliver complex strategic transactions, in highly sensitive circumstances having developed analytical skills on efficiently translating supervisory, regulatory requirements and expectations into sustainable business actions (MiFID/AIFMD/UCITs/EMIR/PRIPs/PSD2/CRR/CRD). Since 2016, Nicole specialised legal focus is on implementation and integration projects on Sustainability Development Goals (SDG)/ESG factors and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR); advising and developing redefined business operational and investments procedures manuals including stakeholders procedures addressing legal compliance commitments with European Union’s relevant policies(e.g.Taxonomy Regulation, Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR), Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive(CSRD), Green Sustainability Bonds(ESG)).

Nicole served as independent Director on Cyprus Securities and Exchange Commission (CySEC) and as a non-executive Council member of the University of Cyprus (UCY). Since 2003, she is an active member of the Cyprus Bar Association (CBA), participating in the Corporate, Securities and Taxation Committee being a representative at the House of Parliament Finance & Budgetary Affairs Committee. Founding member of the CSR Cyprus Non-Profit Organization (Corporate Social Responsibility Network). Regularly shares workshops and presentations on ESG & Sustainability Strategies.
